PCB Exposure Mylar Film

PCB exposure film is a high-transparency Mylar film for UV exposure and vacuum covering in PCB inner-layer, outer-layer and solder-mask exposure rooms. It transmits ultraviolet and visible light, offers approximately 85% reference light transmission, clear circuit viewing, efficient vacuum evacuation and long service life, and is available with smooth or embossed surfaces in 4 mil, 5 mil and custom roll sizes.

Product overview

PCB exposure film is a high-transparency Mylar film used at the vacuum and ultraviolet-exposure position of PCB inner-layer, outer-layer and solder-mask exposure equipment. The material provides high U/V-light transmission and simultaneously passes ultraviolet radiation and nearby visible wavelengths, keeping circuit artwork clearly visible while helping the equipment evacuate air rapidly and reducing abnormal adhesion between the film and the PCB surface. Smooth Mylar is available for processes requiring a flat cover, while embossed Mylar promotes air release and stable vacuum formation. The product information gives a reference light transmission of approximately 85% and a standard thickness of 5 mil. Current roll labels also show 4 mil (0.004 in) and 5 mil (0.005 in), with 1 m × 10 m as a regular roll size. Other lengths, widths and thicknesses can be selected according to the exposure machine, frame dimensions and production requirements.

Product features

  • High U/V-light transmission supports ultraviolet-exposure operations in printed-circuit-board production equipment.
  • The film passes both ultraviolet radiation and nearby visible light, allowing operators to observe circuit artwork and exposure conditions.
  • A clear film surface and approximately 85% reference transmission help maintain visible circuit definition and effective light transfer.
  • Good vacuum performance helps air leave the exposure frame quickly so that the film and workpiece remain evenly and securely contacted.
  • Mylar processing suited to exposure equipment reduces the risk of the film sticking to the PCB surface and supports a longer working life.
  • Smooth and embossed surfaces are available; embossed film assists venting and vacuum evacuation, while smooth film suits flat-cover applications.
  • Common thicknesses include 4 mil (0.004 in) and 5 mil (0.005 in); the standard information specifies 5 mil, and multiple dimensions are available.
  • The material offers good impact resistance, surface stability and durability for continued use in PCB exposure operations.

Applications

  • Transparent covering, vacuum evacuation and ultraviolet transmission in PCB inner-layer circuit exposure rooms.
  • PCB outer-layer exposure, helping stabilize the artwork, circuit board and exposure frame during contact.
  • Solder-mask exposure rooms where clear and stable light-transmitting coverage is needed during pattern exposure.
  • Vacuum membrane, cover film and replacement consumable film for ultraviolet-exposure equipment.
  • PCB exposure processes requiring rapid vacuum formation, clear visual inspection and ultraviolet transmission.
  • Roll cutting and spare-film supply for exposure machines, vacuum frames and PCB production lines of different dimensions.

Procurement notes

For quotation, please provide the exposure-equipment model, inner-layer, outer-layer or solder-mask application, required smooth or embossed surface, thickness, width, length, number of rolls and cutting format. Regular reference specifications include 1 m × 10 m per roll and thicknesses of 4 mil (0.004 in) or 5 mil (0.005 in). The product information also lists common dimensions of 36 or 40 inches in width and 10 yards in length; other lengths, widths and thicknesses can be confirmed to match the equipment and production requirements. Store in a dry location at a recommended temperature of 10–32°C, away from direct sunlight, water and humid areas. When unopened and stored correctly, the reference shelf life is one year. Before volume purchasing, sample testing against exposure energy, vacuum time, frame size and circuit precision is recommended to confirm transmission, venting, contact and durability before the delivery specification is finalized.
