Water-Contact Indicator Labels
Water-contact indicator labels, also called water-sensitive warning or irreversible moisture labels, change from white to red after direct water contact or substantial moisture exposure. The color change cannot be reversed and supports liquid-ingress identification, repair-liability assessment and moisture tracing for phones, batteries, electronics, appliances, LCDs and shipped goods.

Product overview
A water-contact indicator label is a die-cut indicator made from white water-sensitive material. It is also known as a water-sensitive warning label, liquid-ingress indicator or irreversible moisture label. The label remains white in a normal dry condition. After full contact with water or substantial moisture exposure, its surface changes to a clearly contrasting red and does not return to white after drying. This permanent visual record helps identify liquid damage, reduce disputes caused by uncertain water exposure during repair, and provide supporting evidence for water ingress, claims and responsibility tracing during ocean transport or storage.
Product features
- The white water-sensitive material reacts clearly to water and significant moisture by turning red.
- The red change is irreversible and remains visible after drying, preserving evidence of liquid exposure.
- The affected area and degree of moisture contact can be observed, supporting fault-location and responsibility assessment.
- The compact label can be installed inside phones, batteries, circuits, LCDs, precision components and other confined locations.
- Available formats include round diameters of 3, 5 and 10 mm; 3×3 and 5×5 mm squares; 3×6 mm rectangles; and 6×6 mm hexagons.
- Dimensions, shape, layout and sheet format can be customized, with other die-cut designs available for the assembly process.
- Strong white-to-red contrast supports quality inspection, repair records, incoming inspection and after-sales evaluation.
Applications
- Liquid-ingress indication in phones, tablets, earphones, wearable devices and other consumer electronics.
- Moisture records for batteries, power supplies, circuits, appliances, LCDs and precision electronic assemblies.
- Repair-service assessment of whether damage resulted from water exposure and support for warranty responsibility decisions.
- Identification of water ingress or moisture during ocean transport, warehousing and packaging for quality tracing and claims.
- Internal or packaging inspection points requiring a compact, irreversible and visually clear moisture indication.
Procurement notes
For quotation, provide shape, dimensions, installation position, application surface, expected exposure condition, quantity, layout and packaging. Reference formats include round diameters of 3, 5 and 10 mm, 3×3 and 5×5 mm squares, 3×6 mm rectangles and 6×6 mm hexagons; other dimensions can be die-cut to drawings. Store and handle in a dry environment to prevent premature activation by humidity or water during production and assembly. Before volume purchasing, test samples under the actual installation position, ambient humidity and ingress criteria to confirm adhesion, response, color contrast and irreversibility.
